Barbara is a secretary. She is working at an engineering firm in the city centre. She is living with her mother ten miles from the centre. She doesn't have a car, so she is taking the bus to work every day. Very often, she misses her bus and arrives at work late, because she doesn't like getting up early.
Yesterday morning she was late again, because she got up late. She left home quickly and hurried to the bus stop. She was half way to the bus stop when the bus came. She began to run. At that moment, she dropped her bag and purse fell out onto the ground. She put the purse back into her bag, but the bus gone without her. "What a morning!" she thought. But then she saw a new red car at he traffic lights. It was an engineer from the office. He saw Barbara and gave her a lift to the office. "Well," thought Barbara this time, "not a bad morning!"
